Gender Based Violence

Promoting awareness, prevention, dignity, and community action to help prevent gender-based violence and support safer communities.

Our Work

Creating meaningful change through community action.

CARE Organization’s Gender Based Violence program works to raise awareness, promote prevention, and strengthen community action against violence and harmful practices that affect individuals, families, and communities. Through community awareness and education, we promote understanding of gender-based violence, its causes, its impact, and the importance of prevention. We encourage communities to challenge harmful attitudes, promote respect and dignity, and create environments where everyone can live free from violence and discrimination. The program supports conversations around equality, rights, consent, safety, healthy relationships, and responsible community participation. We also encourage survivors and people at risk to seek appropriate professional, health, psychosocial, legal, and protection support through relevant service providers. CARE recognizes that preventing gender-based violence requires collective responsibility. We therefore work to encourage families, community leaders, young people, women, men, and other stakeholders to play an active role in creating safer and more supportive communities. Our goal is to contribute to communities where dignity, equality, respect, and safety are upheld, and where violence is prevented through awareness, early action, and collective responsibility.
